Welcome to the O.D.A.S Website
Hello, and welcome to the website of Ongar & District Angling Society. Our family friendly club was formed in 1948 and still thrives with a membership that includes ladies and juniors, and numbers about 350. But do not worry; you can always get a place to fish at our two excellent club waters.
We hold our general meetings every three months at Budworth Hall in the centre of Chipping Ongar.
Now let me tell you about our two, soon to be increased to three, wonderful club waters.
Number One Water
Situated on the A128 just outside the town of Chipping Ongar it consists of one large lake with just over forty swims, a smaller pond with just a few swims and over two miles of the river Roding. The larger lake contains carp to over twenty pounds along with bream, roach, perch, tench etc. The smaller pond does not hold such large specimens but has a good head of crucians and other fish, whilst the Roding holds all the usual river species and presents quite a challenge to the intrepid angler.
Number Two Water
Situated near the village of Moreton, about halfway between Harlow and Ongar, and consists of one large mature lake with about thirty swims and another deep pit which is affectionately referred to as the bomb hole. The carp are not quite so large here but there are quite a lot that weigh over ten pounds along with roach, rudd, tench, bream, crucians, and perch.
Number Three Water
This is also situated near the village of Moreton and has been especially dug for the club. It has been stocked and should be ready for the spring of 2009.
Events
We have a competition every month on No. 1 water and everyone is welcome, it's a lighthearted affair with lots of enjoyment to be had. We also have outings every month some of which are by coach. We also have competitions for juniors and senior citizens along with many other events to put in your diary.
